オリンパスメディカルシステムズ（株）の生産拠点があり、世界中の消化器内視鏡の約７０％が福島県で生産されています。（会津オリンパス（株）・白河オリンパス（株））。
米系大手医療機器メーカー　ジョンソン・エンド・ジョンソン（株）、日本ベクトン・ディッキンソン（株）の国内主要輸入・生産拠点を有するほか、ノボルディスクファーマ（株）、ハクゾウメディカル（株）、富士システムズ（株）、トミー（株）など４０を超える医療機器製造業者が操業しています。
Fukushima is home to Olympus Medical Systems' production sites for approximately 70% of the digestive endoscopes used worldwide. These include Aizu Olympus and Shirakawa Olympus corporate divisions. Fukushima is also home to major domestic import and production sites of leading American manufacturers, including Johnson & Johnson K.K. and Becton, Dickenson and Co. In all, over 40 international medical device manufacturers operate in Fukushima, including Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd., Hakuzo Medical Corp., Fuji Systems Corp., and Tomy Inc.

日本大学工学部　次世代工学研究センター（NEWCAT）
NEWCAT: Nihon University College of Engineering Worldwide Research Center for Advanced Engineering & Technology

当センターは、次世代に役立つ工学技術を研究し、地域社会に貢献することを目的として、文部科学省の選定を受け、平成14年4月に設立されました。これまで、数多くの大型研究プロジェクト[NEDO地域申請コンソーシアム、文部科学省都市エリア産学関連事業（一般型・発展型）など]に取り組んでまいりました。これにより、同大が有するハプティック（触覚）技術を応用した低侵襲診断・治療機器の製品化に向けた共同研究が医療機器メーカーとの間で開始されました。
NEWCAT was established in 2002 to place engineering technology in the service of society and future generations. The NEDO Regional Revitalization Consortium and MEXT City Area Program are among NEWCAT's undertakings. These have linked the center to medical device manufacturers aiming to commercialize Nihon University's haptic technology in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic devices.

福島県立医科大学
Fukushima Medical University

地域産学官共同研究拠点や医療工学講座を中心に、新規医薬品や低侵襲診断・治療機器等の製品化に向けた臨床研究が活発に行われています。
Clinical studies are conducted with the aim of commercializing new pharmaceuticals and minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic devices, through an industry-government-university regional collaborative research center and medical engineering courses.

Fukushima Medical - Industry Liaison Promotion Office

福島県立医科大学の中に県産業創出課職員を配置し、異業種企業の医療機器製造許可取得や医療福祉機器分野での販路拡大、人材育成等を支援しています。
Staff from the prefecture's Industrial Creation Division are co-opted to Fukushima Medical University to help commercial enterprises license medical devices, explore sales opportunities within medicine and healthcare, and develop human resources.
